our story

Bison need room. Turns out, we did too.

Katrina holding three FIELD Try-On tins

Hi, I'm Katrina.

I'm raising twin girls in Montana and making skincare with bison tallow. There's quite a bit about that sentence my younger self would have questions about.

Black and white photograph of a Katrina Trigg of Field Bison Tallow sitting on a porch looking out over a grassy field and distant hills, framed by a window or doorway.

Patrick's work moved our family from a big city in Canada to a town of about 1,000 people outside Bozeman.

I didn't know how badly I needed the field behind our house, or how much I'd love how dark the nights get out here.

And yes, somewhere along the way, I became very interested in bison.

Tallow was Patrick's idea. He's the one in our house who reads every label, and he kept handing me tallow balms to try. I wasn't having it. I had a shelf of skincare I loved, and most of the tallow I tried felt rustic.

But I couldn't stop wondering what tallow would be like if it felt like the skincare I loved. And there were bison right next door, grazing the field beside ours. I got curious about making it with bison.

So I made a balm in my kitchen, just to try it. It came out so silky.

I kept working on it until I had something I wanted to share.

Today, we make FIELD in small batches outside Bozeman. Skincare inspired by an animal and a place I can't stop getting excited about.

This is what all that room looks like.

I'm so happy you're here.

A few things we care about.

Begin with bison.

Our balms start with grass-fed and finished bison tallow. We love what we can make with it.

WHY BISON?
A person holds a small amber glass jar of whipped tallow balm with a cream label reading 'FIELD BISON TALLOW Whipped Tallow Balm' against a softly blurred neutral background.

Trade fake for the field.

Naturally derived ingredients, each with a reason to be in the jar. No petroleum, synthetic fragrance or fillers.

OUR APPROACH
A scenic landscape photograph of snow-capped mountains in the distance, with rolling golden-brown hills, a fence in the foreground, and a dramatic cloudy sky.

Wildly good is the bar.

The texture, the scent, the jar on your counter. We're particular about all of it.
